When they meet again, Ben has moved on to create a life and community for himself, while his dad is still scared to let go of the daughter he thought he had, and embrace the son he has now. Through their conversations, old wounds are brought to the surface, difficult truths are disclosed, and both father and son take steps down the path of healing.
